Anshul Kothari won two swimming medals at the 34th National Games that concluded recently at Ranchi, Jharkhand, with a silver in the 50m Butterfly event and a bronze in the 50m Freestyle event. He was the only participant from Gujarat to win medals for the state. Anshul is the son of Sushma and Ketan Rasiklal Kothari of Surat and grandson of Sumanben and Rasiklal Bapalal Kothari.

While Anshul was a fraction of a second behind the winner in the Butterfly event, he also missed out on the silver in the Freestyle event by a similarly narrow margin.

Last year, Anshul became the first person from state of Gujarat to be a member of the Indian swimming team and first Palanpuri to represent the country in swimming when we was selected for the Indian swimming team at the Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi and the Asian Games held at China.
