With the aim of spreading the message of national unity and to strengthen the fight against terrorism, G. D. Modi Vidyasankul, Palanpur organized a mini-marathon in the city on the eve of the 60th Republic Day. The event generated great enthusiasm among young and old, men and women and attracted about 2000 participants.
Among the runners were BSF and SRP Jawans, policemen, ex-servicemen, sports persons and others, all eager to express their opposition to the worldwide terrorism. About 600 students of G.D. Modi Campus, 700 students from Vividhlaxi Vidyamandir School and more than 300 students from other educational institutions and citizens extended their support. One of the highlights was the participation of four generations of the Doshi family from Vadodara including a 68 year old great grandfather and his eight year old great grandson.
Mr. Soham Shukla from Ahmedabad conceptualized this marathon and executed it along with Programme co-ordinator Dr. S.G. Chauhan, Bhikhubhai Korot, President B.K. District Kelavani Mandal Mr. Shirish Modi, Campus Directors Mr. M.V. Hathi and Mr. G.I. Thakar, principals and campus staff. Various NGOs of the city also extended their support.
District Collector Mr. R.S. Patel, who flagged off the marathon and said, “ the event reflected the spirit of oneness and solidarity.”
All the participants were given flavoured milk by Banaskantha District Co-operative Milk Union (Banas Dairy).
