Suvas Mehta Releases New Book, ‘Scatter the Gulal’, on Lessons that Shape Work, Life & Leadership

Scatter the Gulal — Lessons that shape Work, Life & Leadership, the first book by Suvas Mehta was released on September 5 in Mumbai at a gathering comprising around 200 guests — family, teachers, friends and well-wishers.

The book was released in the presence of a number of distinguished personalities well known for their work across varied fields including business, academia and social development. These included Mr Ghanshyam Dholakia – Hari Krishna Group, Prof Seema Mahajan – Pro Vice Chancellor NMIMS University, Mr Prakash Shah – Chairman, Prasad Group, Mr Sameer Mehta – Shantilal C Mehta ShanParts Group, Dr Rajesh Soneji – Shrimad Rachandra Adhyatmik Sadhana Kendra, Koba, Mr Kaushal Mehta, Mr Shanay Mehta, Prof Francis Menezes, Prof Bharat Acharya and others.

The title of the book is from a well-known line by the Gujarati poet Shri Makarand Dave — ગમતાંનો કરીએ ગુલાલ, which suggest, if you find something you love, don't fill your pockets with it. Scatter it, the way gulal is scattered at Holi, so that someone else's world becomes a little brighter.

This is the central idea of the book, covering 47 chapters, where the author shared lessons he received over the years — from his grandfather, Shri Shantilal C. Mehta, his parents and teachers, colleagues and customers, and even strangers he came in contact with while travelling. The subjects are plain and close to daily life: honesty, contentment, gratitude, quality, leadership, and the place one earns in other people's hearts.

Suvas Mehta said, "I did not gather this wisdom. I received it. I have only written it down." He explained that the book is available in both English and Gujarati and uses language that has been kept deliberately simple, so that readers of any age can follow it.

Currently the Chairman of ITR India Pvt Ltd (formerly Shantilal C. Mehta ShanParts Pvt. Ltd.), Suvas Mehta is the third generation involved in a family business founded by his grandfather Shri Shantilal C. Mehta in 1947. He describes himself not as a creator of wisdom, but a collector of it.
