Punit Mehta, CEO, D Navinchandra Jewels, has introduced some innovative initiatives to spread the message of Veganism, the embracing of a plant-based diet, to his employees and others.

He spearheaded a tie-up between his company and Veganuary, a global non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring individuals to adopt vegan practises during a month-long campaign in January. Punitbhai said, “It was an important milestone for us as we continue to work towards a more humane, sustainable, and health-conscious future for all.”

The canteen at his factory was already only serving a ‘100% plant-based lunch’ to its over-1,000 employees, thus encouraging them to join a “journey of creating a healthier, more humane world!”.

In addition, during the month, the company also organised a vegan meal cooking competition for the staff which spanned two days. It had 44 participants, with 22 people participating on each day. The winners were felicitated too.

Palak Mehta, the founder of Vegan First, and one of the judges at the event said, “The dishes were an eclectic mix of flavors and ingredients, showcasing the versatility and delicious potential of plant-based cooking.”

Punitbhai believes that such initiatives are within the broader framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and that they involved working together to build a better, more sustainable world for everyone.
