Nysha Gandhi Awarded President’s International Scholarship of Excellence for York University, Canada

Nysha Niraj Gandhi, who has just appeared for Std 12 Boards at JBCN International School, Parel, Mumbai, has been selected for the President's International Scholarship of Excellence, at York University in Canada. The University describes it as “one of the most prestigious awards granted to international students” who will be enrolling for graduating courses this year.

Nysha is the daughter of Renuka and Niraj Gandhi, and granddaughter of Late Dilipbhai Chimanlalbhai Gandhi and Naynaben Gandhi.

While announcing Nysha’s selection, the University noted that the winners are chosen on the basis of having demonstrated academic excellence, commitment to volunteer work, extracurricular activities and leadership skills. The winners, usually not more than 20 globally, represent a variety of regions around the world, and are known as Presidents International Scholars.

Nysha has been an outstanding all-round student, performing well in academics and also excelling in art and sports. She secured an A* grade in her Std 10 Boards; won 5th rank in English Olympiad exams for three consecutive years; earned bronze and gold medals in Taekwondo; has been awarded the Best Actress in school plays are among the accolades she has won.

She is also a trained classical dancer having cleared three levels in Kathak, and a Best Delegate winner at Model United Nations events. Outside school, Nysha completed an internship with The Dharavi Dream Project, a platform empowering underprivileged youth through music and art, and has been actively involved in animal welfare activities too.

In addition to securing the 100% scholarship award at York, Nysha was also selected for other universities including University of British Columbia (UBC) with a CAD 15,000 scholarship, Simon Fraser University, Queen’s University and Brock University in Canada and Flame University in India.
