Dr Vaibhav Somani, VMT Alumnus, Appointed Honorary Gastroenterologist to Governor of Maharashtra

Dr. Vaibhav Somani, an international award-winning Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist and Consultant to Bombay Hospital and Breach Candy Hospital has been appointed as Honorary Gastroenterologist to the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra. Dr Somani, who is originally from Palanpur, studied at Smt. M.M. Mehta English Medium School, Vidyamandir from 1998 and completed his Secondary School education from there in 2001.

During his career of more than a decade, Dr Somani has worked at renowned hospitals in Delhi and Mumbai including Kalra Hospital & SRCNC, R.N. Cooper Hospital, Karuna Hospital, Bombay Hospital and Breach Candy Hospital.

After completing his studies in Palanpur, Dr Somani did his MBBS from Bharati VidyaPeeth University Medical College, Pune. This was followed by followed by a DNB in Internal Medicine and then a specialisation in Gastroenterology.

He has published articles and case reports in various national and international journals and made presentations at a number of national and international events (including DDW and EASL). Dr Somani has authored a book on Minimal Hepatic Encephalopathy. He was awarded Asian young Endoscopist Award 2017 by Korean Society of Gastroenterology.
