Aditya Mehta was the winner of the snooker league tournament played as part of the National Selection Camp held at Ahmedabad from February 28 to March 7, 2011. The camp, conducted by the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) was hosted by the Gujarat State Billiards Association.
The top eight snooker players of the country were invited for the camp and played each other in a competitive league format. Aditya Mehta emerged victorious winning six out of the seven matches, including a victory against current No 1 Pankaj Advani. He scored 3600 points to top the selection trial and now stands at No 2 in the overall ranking table.
The tournament at the camp was held to decide the team that would represent India at the Asian Snooker Championships to be held later this year, and also to decide the National Rankings at the end of the year.
Aditya had earlier won a Silver in the Team event and a Bronze in the Individual event in Snooker at the Asian Games held in China in November 2010. Aditya is the son of Sheela and Snehal Jagdishchandra Mehta.
