Aditya Mehta won a bronze in the Snooker Singles event at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China -- his second medal at the Games. He surprised the more fancied Boon Chin Ang of Singapore to win the best of seven frames in the quarterfinal 4-3 on Friday, but lost 1-4 to eventual winner Marco Fu Ka of Hong Kong in the semis. Aditya is the son of Sheela and Snehal Jagdishchandra Mehta.

Earlier Aditya had also won a Silver medal as a member of the Indian team at the Asian Games Snooker Tournament in Guangzhou, China on November 15, after losing 1-3 to China in the finals. Aditya was the lone Indian cueist to win a match in the final, beating Leang Wenbo of China by a narrow margin of 5 points.

In the semi-finals the Indian team beat Pakistan 3-0. The team performance bettered the Bronze medal that the team had won at the 2006 Asian games held at Doha. Aditya was a member of the 2006 team as well.

Aditya has also consistently won a number of laurels for himself and for the country at various national and international tournaments.
