The Apex team

The first two centres of Apex Kidney Care (AKC), a unique chain that will provide comprehensive high quality dialysis in a stand alone day care setting, and which is promoted by Mr. Rupen Kothari, were inaugurated at Malad and Mulund in Mumbai on January 4, 2008.

Dr. Jatin Kothari, MD, DM (Nephrology), Consultant Nephrologist and Transplant Physician at P.D. Hinduja Hospital is the medical adviser for this project with four other  reputed nephrologists from the city forming the core team on site

The two centres, one in the western and the other in the central suburbs of Mumbai, have a total capacity of 42 hemodialysis machines. 

The centres were inaugurated by Dr. V.N. Acharya (Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Nephrology, KEM Hospital and currently Professor & Advisor, Muljibhai Patel Hospital, Nadiad and Piramal Hospital, Mumbai) and Dr. A.G. Phadke (Professor and Head of Dept. of Urology, Bombay Hospital, Mumbai). 

The Mulund Apex centre

The centres will provide the entire range of services required for patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, starting from information on the types of treatments so that they can make an informed choice, providing all types of dialysis treatments to suit different needs, and coordinate legal related kidney transplants and cadaver transplants with registered hospitals for the same. AKC has dieticians, social workers and rehabilitation specialists on site to assist kidney patients and provide holistic treatment for all kidney ailments. 

It has affiliated with SRL Religare laboratories to provide excellent backup facilities for all kind of investigations required for patients at each of its centers. 

AKC plans to develop a chain of dialysis centers across the city, state and country.
