The year-long ‘Swarna Jayanti’ celebrations of the Lokniketan, Ratanpur concluded in a fitting manner at a huge mass rally held at the organisation’s campus in Ratanpur on June 18, 2011 and presided over by the Governor of Gujarat Smt. Kamla Beniwal. Congress leader Arjunbhai Modvadia and HGNU Vice Chancellor, Dr. Hemaxiben Rao were also present on the dais.
The organisation which was established as a small residential school with 18 students on June 18, 1961, has grown in the last four and a half decades to a massive campus on which a wide range of educational and social activities are conducted in 36 institutions and catering to over 4,000 students.
Congratulating the main architects of this project, Harisinh Chavda and Pushpaben Chavda, the speakers stressed that the rural education and training they were providing to the people of Banaskantha was truly in the Gandhian spirit and provided a strong base for national development.
After introducing the activities of Lokniketan, Harisinh Chavda, President and Managing Trustee, also spoke of his dream of establishing a university in the district. Pushpaben Chavda proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Earlier on May 14-16, Lokniketan had organised a three day ‘Sadbhavna Parva’ on the campus , as part of the ongoing Golden Jubilee celebrations. This was addressed by well known spiritual leaders Rameshbhai Ojha and Murari Bapu among others.
